Adam Rubin
American writer
Adam Rubin is a #1 New York Times best selling author of children's books.[1] Many of his stories feature animals or food[2] and several contain interactive elements.[3] His books have sold over one million copies.[4] Rubin graduated from Washington University in St. Louis where he studied advertising[5] and worked as an advertising creative director for ten years before leaving his day job to focus on writing books.[6] Adam also has a background in Improv where he taught classes at iO Theater in Chicago and in New York at the Annoyance Theatre.[7] In addition to writing and improv, he also curates and designs puzzles and magic tricks.[8]

My most recent book is called The Truth About the Couch. I got to collaborate with the legendary Argentinian cartoonist Liniers and went on Good Morning America to chat about the story with George Stephanopoulos (sp?).
I'm very proud of my two collections of short fiction The Human Kaboom and The Ice Cream Machine. Each book contains six totally different stories with the same exact name. People have described these books as "exhilarating" or "impossible to resist" and I'm only slightly embarrassed to tell you that they debuted at #1 & #2 on the New York Times bestsellers list. Bragging rights aside, my real goal in writing these books was to encourage young readers to express their own creativity. I recorded a short series of writing tips to share with aspiring authors. Hundreds of kids have since sent me their stories and I've begun to publish my favorites in the paperback versions of my books.
My life as an author began with picture books. The most popular one is called Dragons Love Tacos but the others are pretty good too. I'm particularly fond of Gladys the Magic Chicken (illustrated by Adam Rex). The book trailer has a catchy jingle and live chickens.
